"Roll with the Punches"
There is no end to the healing powers of the ocean. Prior to Sea Kayaking I found myself drawn to it. I spent much of my free time beside it staring off into the horizon, trying to make sense of its calm and chaotic states. The ebb and flow of the ocean seem to move at a faster rate than the ebb and flow of life. My time by the water taught me to accept and embrace the changes in life. I was at a turning point in my life where my body could not take the abuse from 15 years of Freestyle BMX. I could no longer ride at my peak level and did not see anymore growth down that avenue. I opened myself up to new pursuits and in doing so I found kayaking. Since then it has taught me patience, discipline and most of all it reminds me everyday to embrace the changing tides of life. When I decided to make this video I had envisioned making a Sea Kayak video much like the BMX videos I had ridden in and produced in the past. It only seems fitting that in the process of making this video I’d experience the king tides of this new era of my life. With some of the highest highs and the lowest lows, I’d describe it to my wife as the best-worst year. As things got tough I just imagined paddling in big seas where all you can do is control how you react to what is happening to you. In the midst of chaos are beautiful moments of tranquility. In the end, you just have to “Roll with the Punches”
